Lighthouses are Convicting

This weekend was Lighthouse weekend for us at Mariners. We have the opportunity to show high school students that it is our responsibility to care for the poor and needy. There were so many highlights but two stood out to me from G's message.

Compassion is nothing without justice. It is relatively easy to feel sorry for the poor and needy, but if we are not moved to action, justice has not prevailed.

Poor isn't an empty wallet. The definition of poor and needy is usually stated as a lack of financial means...but what if it really meant a lifestyle that lacks hope. Of course money is an issue, but move beyond the obvious. The common bond for all is that we are connected with the source of hope. We are required to use our resources to help them find their hope again.
